Welcome

If you are new to our camera club, you can find out more about us (where we meet, how much it costs, etc) by clicking here. Visitors to our club evenings are always welcome: the programme for the next few meetings is outlined below - just come. Club evenings start at 7:30pm.

    What's Happening    (updated 18/02/2019)

Bradford Abbas Shield 2018:   A great 'Shadows' effort by our members; we ended up ahead of Yeovil and Wincanton, just one point behind Shaftsbury, and 8 points behind the winners Sherbourne Bradford Abbas. Congratulations to them. Congratulations as well to all whose photographs made up our entry - and thanks to all members who submitted images and gave us so many great photos to select our final 10 from. (Click on any image in the slideshow to see it enlarged).
Stop Press:- the topic for the 2019 Bradford Abbas Shield competition has been announced .... "People at Work".

May 1st:   Visiting Speaker: local professional and prize-winning photographer Liam Marsh presents his unique style of "Natural History and Wildlife Photography". We'll not only find out how he approaches the technical challenges that come with photographing wild subjects but also perhaps be drawn into his desire to inspire people to take a greater interest in the natural world, particularly those subjects that receive less attention than they deserve. His work has been featured in various magazines. In 2012 he was winner of the International Garden Photographer of the Year in the ‘wildlife in the garden’ category. In 2016 he won the 'wildlife in HD' category for a short film 'Spring on the River'. In 2017 he won again with a short film titled ‘Rock in the Stream’ about caddisfly larvae.

Our Challenge for this meeting is "TA13 Throughout the Year" - there's still a little time left to be out and about in the locality with your camera and maybe come up with a terrific image for both this challenge and for next year's SP calender.

June 5th:   Practical Night: Richard Martin will set up some quick challenges for us in still-life and macro photography - 20 minutes to take your perfect shot and move on to the next challenge. Bring your camera and any other camera gear you need. This evening is also a perfect opportunity to get advice from other members so, if you have questions about the features and menus on your camera, bring it and your camera handbook along with you. The Challenge for this meeting is "Music" - that is photographing it, not playing it.

An outline of our programme for the whole 2018/19 season is available here (opens in a pop-up window).

    South Petherton Calendar 2019

    Monthly Photo Challenges

Each month the club members are set a photo challenge to produce digital images on a set topic. The images are then reviewed at a subsequent club night and voted on to select the winner (who gets a round of applause and our heartfelt admiration).
