•  Bradford Abbas Shield 2026: "Farmers and Farming"   The 25th - and final - Bradford Abbas Shield competition was held at the end of March, and (rather fittingly) was won by the Sherborne/Bradford Abbas club ...... with South Petherton in 2nd place. The judge's scoring rarely strayed outside a range of 15-18 throughout so the total scores for each club were very close at the end. Congratulations go to are two top scorers each with 18/20: Steve Cooper for "Pig Happy" and Steve Harrison for "Chicken Feed" both very impactful photos. •  Club Meetings:   our meetings are predominantly aimed at learning a bit about taking good photos from people who have been there, done it and acquired the T-shirt. Our in-person meetings take place at the Blake Hall, South Petherton on the first Wednesday of the month from September to July. We also have Zoom meetings on the third Wednesdays through the winter months, October to March - going on-line for these sessions enables us to get some very good speakers from more distant places on a greater range of topics. •  October 21st   Justin Garner: "Home Photography" (Zoom talk). Back during those covid lockdown days, Justin set himself a mini project of a photo a day taken in and around his own house. In this talk, he shows us some these photos and explains the set-up and how he went about it. This will be truly fascinating, and who knows, may give you some ideas for your own photography during the dull days of winter when the idea of going out and about with your camera doesn't seem very attractive.

•  September Challenge: "Circles"  

The 34 entries for September's challenge illustrate just what a lot of scope the topic of 'Circles gives for interpretation. In the end there was one clear winner of the popular vote, but take a look yourself - there's a whole load of other entries that are super photos.
Well, this was the winning image and a fabulous photo it is, using monochrome to simplify the image and direct attention on the shape of the structures and their reflection. Congratulations to Gary for his beautiful capture.

The SPPS South Petherton Calendar has become something of an institution over the years, and very well supported by sales it is too. Many thanks to the photographers who provided images this year of South Petherton and the area around: Steve Cooper, Carolyn Edwards, James McInnes, John Nicholson, Dave Simpson, Jenny Wade, Alan Williams and Robert Williams - and to the image selection panel, and the editor, James McInnes.

2026 Calendar We are always looking for fresh images to include in the next edition of the calendar. As you take them throughout the year, please send your South Petherton and locality images for collation and possible selection to .

Each month the club members are set a photo challenge to produce digital images on a set topic. The images are then reviewed at a subsequent club night and voted on to select the winner (who gets a round of applause and our heartfelt admiration).
